Topical Post-Procedure Care…
The realm of skin care has expanded beyond traditional facials to include cosmetic procedures that vary in the extent to which they influence the skin. Some treatments may mildly affect the skin, whereas others can be more ablative.
Facial Rejuvenation Procedures
HRestoring the youthful appearance of skin can include a wide spectrum of non-invasive, minimally invasive, and invasive procedures. The most common types of minimally invasive procedures include: microdermabrasion; chemical peels; photo-rejuvenation IPL or laser treatments; injectibles & Botox; and skin tightening techniques. More ablative procedures which cause direct injury to the skin include surgical procedures; deep chemical peels; and ablative laser resurfacing treatments.
Accelerating Skin Recovery
With minimally invasive procedures, there is hardly any downtime, and skin recovery is relatively speedy. Keep in mind that although some procedures may be mild, you still need to protect your skin. For example, after microdermabrasion or even superficial chemical peels, too much sun exposure shortly afterwards can lead to hyper-pigmentation. The skin itself may feel tender or sensitive to touch, so treat it with gentle care. After skin resurfacing treatments or cosmetic surgery, allow your skin the time it needs to heal. Picking at your peeling skin or healing scabs can lead to carring. Proper hydration increases moisture levels in the skin, which in turn helps boost skin healing and recovery.
